ANNOUNCING THE RELEASE OF OUR NEW CLAY LONG LOGO SHAFT PUTTER
Clay Long is one of the best known putter designers in golf history. He started playing golf as a youngster and went to college on a golf scholarship finishing with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He began his career in the golf business with Macgregor Golf Company in 1980, rising to Vice President of Research and Development. For 22 years, beginning with his tenure at Macgregor, Clay has designed golf clubs for golf’s greatest player, Jack Nicklaus, including the putter Nicklaus used to win the 1986 Masters. Kenny Knox used a Clay Long designed putter to set the PGA tour tournament putting record that stood for 17 years. Clay was also the chief designer for Arnold Palmer at ProGroup, Inc, an Arnold Palmer company, and later was the Vice President of Research and Development for Cobra Golf and later still Vice President of Golf Club Development for Acushnet.
Clay Long putters are a combination of science, precision and art that only a 30 year experienced veteran could produce. The putter heads are machined out of a single block of soft carbon steel. Machining heads from a single piece of material insures the hardness and grain structure is consistent throughout the head. This process also makes sure that once the angles and harmonics of the head are set, they cannot change.
